Bertil Chappuis is a senior partner emeritus of McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. During his 27 years at McKinsey, Bertil drove transformational performance improvement for leading companies in the high-tech industry. He brings deep experience in scaling and improving the performance of organizations. Over the years, Bertil has dedicated significant time and resources to pro bono work in education and to several non-profits in Puerto Rico. Bertil and his wife Carmen have been members of the Boys and Girls Club’s Legacy Council for the past 5 years.

Chappuis earned a BS degree in chemical engineering and an MS in Technology Policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.

Since 2017, Monica de la Torre has served as the co-founder and president of Fundación Colibrí, a philanthropic organization established after Hurricane Maria to support transformational change and long-term recovery in Puerto Rico.

She has also worked as a public interest attorney in the areas of family, immigration, and public benefits law, most recently as director of Legal Services Center at The Door, a New York City-based organization that services at-risk teenagers.

Ms. de la Torre has served on the board of The Door for the past 18 years and for the last 12 years has been a trustee on the board of the Broome Street Academy, a New York City charter school that targets the needs of young people who are homeless or receiving foster care services by integrating academic and youth development services. She’s also a member of the governing board of TechnoServe, a non-profit organization working in 30 countries to fight poverty by helping people build regenerative farms, businesses, and markets that increase incomes.

Rafael Somoza is a serial entrepreneur and investor and is currently co-CEO and co-founder of QMC Telecom International, a leading owner, developer, manager, and operator of digital wireless infrastructure in Latin America. Previously he was CEO and co-founder of VIU Media, Puerto Rico’s then largest private outdoor advertising company, until its sale in 2006 to Lamar Advertising. He previously worked at Chase Manhattan Bank and CS First Boston. Rafael graduated magna cum laude in Economics and Political Science from Yale College and has an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Throughout the years he has served in several profit and not-for-profit Boards of Directors.

Rafael Vélez is president and founder of Atabey Capital, an investment management firm committed to building a more robust, empowered, sustainable Puerto Rico and boosting its economic development. Currently, Atabey is developing a 500MW bi-directional submarine HVDC electric power transmission cable between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. Atabey is also invested in a 1,200 acre pineapple plantation, the largest in Puerto Rico.

Prior to Atabey, Mr. Vélez founded Putney Capital Management in 2007, an asset management and advisory firm located in the NOLA region (Northern Latin America), with experience and success in raising capital, buyouts, recapitalizations, turnarounds and joint ventures. The firm specializes in the energy, agri-business and construction material industries. Mr. Vélez sold his stake in Putney on December 2019 to INICIA, Ltd.

Mr. Vélez received a B.A. degree in Accounting and Economics from Babson College and a Master’s in Policy & Leadership from Georgetown.

University. Mr. Vélez also completed the Advance Management Program from IESE Business School at Barcelona, Spain. He is a Certified Public Accountant and participates in the Board of various companies in the Dominican Republic, Colombia and Puerto Rico, including Oriental Financial Group (OFG:NYSE).
